WION Fineprint: Love to nap? Might not be good for health

Taking a nap is actively promoted as essential and beneficial. While several studies highlight the benefits of napping, a new analysis by an American Heart Association Journal differs. It says those who nap more on average have a greater health risk.

And our next story is about napping
don’t we all love it
a quick shut eye to recharge our bodies
unlike 85 percent of all mammalian
species human beings sleep just once a
day but nearly one third of us simply do
not get enough of that
thanks to social media taking a nap is
actively promoted as essential and
beneficial
they are even categorized now a power
nap to shake off the groggy feeling
a recovery nap to compensate for sleep
deprivation
siesta after a heavy midday meal and the
latest one depression naps to escape the
hard reality
several studies researchers health
clinics have been hailing the benefits
of napping for decades now telling us
all about the cognitive benefits of a
short deep sleep talking about how
napping is great for alertness learning
memory and performance in fact nasa
conducted a groundbreaking study quote
unquote proving beneficial effects of
napping and the united states of america
even has a national napping day
it’s an officially observed day marked
on the 13th of march every year just to
promote the health benefits of napping
and now after decades of normalizing and
falling in love with randomly taking a
nap
it has been found that the new favorite
adult pastime is actually more harmful
than beneficial
according to new analysis by an american
heart association journal those who nap
more on average have a greater risk of
developing high blood pressure and
stroke study participants who typically
nab during the day were 12 percent more
likely to develop high blood pressure
over time and 24 percent more likely to
have a stroke as compared to people who
never napped
the study also highlights a correlation
between regular napping smoking
cigarettes daily alcohol consumption
snoring insomnia and people who claim to
be night owls
and the longer the nap the worse it gets
so the next time you find yourself
yawning or dozing off maybe just pull
yourself through the day for a long
fulfilling sleep at night because if you
snooze during the day you actually might
lose health-wise at least
